My name is Jonathen Doherty I am a Chelmsford High School graduate and former Umass Lowell and Wilmington Seadawgs (Semi-pro) basketball player. During college, over 10 years ago, I picked up coaching AAU as a way to stay involved in my former program, I started with a 6th grade B team that turned into something I never would have imagined. I moved on with this team until they were freshmen in high school and within those years I was able to not only become a better player but a better coach, mentor, and leader for young people. I coached this team to Nationals 3 years in a row the second and third year winning our bracket. After a couple more years of coaching Xpressions (Nike sponsored program) and graduating college an opportunity to play semi pro came up in North Carolina and I jumped at the opportunity. Immediately arriving in North Carolina I was offered a job doing private training, camps, and clinics for a program based out of Wilmington designed to help athletes get to the next level, I worked with kids from middle school to high school to college and even over sears and NBA opportunist athletes. Upon moving back to Mass I began coaching in Chelmsford and very quickly opened up my own program, Shooting Touch. I am the only person who is involved in this program and I work with every athlete 1-1 my program focuses on correct and proper shooting form, footwork, game play, change of direction and ball handling. I start every athlete with a solid fundamental base in all those categories and we build up from there. My program takes dedication and hard work but with those and my instruction athletes have the opportunity to become the best they can be at whatever level they are striving for. I am continuing to coach at the high school level and soaking up as much knowledge as possible from girls to boys. Basketball for me is not a hobby or just a sport it is my passion and I want to create that same passion in athletes for years to come.
